MADIDI: The Culture of the Jungle 3 Days 2 Nights
An Amazon Jungle Experience.
Established in 1995 Madidi National Park, an area of over 18000 square kilometres, is one of the largest protected areas in the world. The park extends from the glacier-covered peaks of the high Andes Mountains to the tropical rainforests of the Tuichi River. Madidi is recognized as one of the planet's most biologically diverse regions.
Rurrenabaque has become the tourist gateway to the park and the starting point for this tour. This 3 day adventure will take us to the Award Winning Eco Lodge Mashaquipe, "Green Action" eco-tourism certification.
Mashaquipe, founded and managed by a society of Indigenous families from the community Villa Alcira, we offer different packages to the Rain Forest in Madidi National Park as well to the Yacuma Pampas sites of unforgettable beauty and exuberant wildlife. Our native guides, nature wise, with many years of experience interpreting nature will show you and teach you the prosperity of the pristine forest and pampas, providing you a complete experience of learning and enjoying nature, combining activities like hikes, navigation, observation of wildlife, river rafting and demonstration of the way of life among others.
8.30 AM – We leave Rurrenabaque aboard a long dugout canoe, its motored there is no rowing. On the way we will stop Villa Alcira, while here we get a chance to learn a little about the community and jungle life. It’s an enjoyable boat ride along the rivers Beni and Tuichi the landscapes are magnificent, Bala Canyon is beautiful.
Once we arrive at “Mashaquipe", you will be welcomed with a refreshing glass of fruit juice, you will be shown your accommodation and we will have lunch. This afternoon we take a leisurely nature walk along trails specifically designed for watching animals such as monkeys and peccaries and for learning about the natural environment.
On return you have some time to relax have a shower before our evening meal.
7.30AM Breakfast is served. Have your gear packed as today we will take a 4 hour walk into the jungle to set up our jungle camp. We will have to carry the essential equipment (sleeping bags, sleeping mats, mosquito nets). Once we reach our camp, "Arenalito", we will prepare lunch and take deserved rest.
3:30 pm we take a walk to a vantage where we will witness nesting macaws, parrots and many other bird species. It’s an amazing sight, the birds the scenery, and the sound of the jungle. Once we return to camp our evening meal is prepared. After our meal we can take a short walk during which we have a great chance of spotting armadillos, snakes, monkeys, tapirs, nocturnal birds etc. Sometimes if we are lucky we will hear the roar of the jaguar or puma.
Early start 5.00am as today we want to see the sunrise. It is just a short walk where we will hear noisy howler monkeys and a variety of birds welcoming the new day. Then back to camp for breakfast then we will head to the Tuichi River. Todays activity, build a log raft the traditional transport of the Amazonian Indians. and go rafting for about 2 hours. Out motor boat will follow us just for security, our backpacks and for people who do not wish to participate in this activity. Once we reach Mashaquipe eco-lodge we will have lunch and later return Rurrenabaque at around 4PM. Please note: This programme can be modified according to your interests and energy (you can spend every night in our eco-lodge)
